Base salary range: $62,107 - $80,737
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-10. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 years graduate study.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves managing and securing IT systems at a naval shipyard, including fixing hardware and software problems, handling backups and cybersecurity threats, and overseeing equipment from purchase to disposal.
It's ideal for someone with hands-on experience in Windows-based networks and virtual servers who enjoys troubleshooting under pressure and working in a team environment.
Good communication skills are key for explaining tech issues to non-experts and updating recovery plans.
You will serve as a IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN/INFOSEC) in the Windows/IIS/Web Applications Support Branch (10914), IT Infrastructure & Operations Division (1091), Information Technology & Cybersecurity (ITACS) Office (109) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience analyzing and troubleshooting recurring and emergency issues with hardware, software, and firmware to restore normal operations and minimize downtime across shipyard systems.
Experience leading the planning, implementation, and management of backup and recovery solutions, ensuring the integrity and recoverability of critical systems and data in accordance with Information Technology (IT) security policies.
Experience supporting cybersecurity incident response efforts, diagnosing and remediating security vulnerabilities, and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of shipyard systems and networks.
Experience managing the lifecycle of IT assets, from procurement to decommissioning, ensuring compliance with security and configuration standards while supporting the smooth operation of hardware, software, and firmware systems.
