Click on "Learn more about this agency" button below for IMPORTANT additional information. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Chief, Cybersecurity Section.

Responsible for the security posture of the 17 TRG training systems and networks. Manages the cybersecurity program work center.

Coordinates cyber security policy and principles for certification and accreditation of 17 TRG training systems. This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS).

The GG-12 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level.

The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions for the GS-2210, Information Technology (IT) Management Series (Alternative A).

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

OR Experience: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.

For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

Examples of creditable experience include Knowledge of a full range of IT security principles, methods, regulations, policies, products and services sufficient to develop specifications to ensure compliance with security requirements at the LAN level and to plan and coordinate the delivery of an IT security awareness training program.

Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.

Knowledge of laws, policies, procedures, or governance relevant to cybersecurity for critical infrastructures to include an organization's information classification program and procedures for information compromise.

2. Knowledge of security management and configuration management techniques to include information technology (IT) security principles and methods (e.g., firewalls, demilitarized zones, encryption). 3.

Knowledge of security system design tools, methods, and network security architecture concepts including topology, protocols, components, and principles (e.g., application of defense-in-depth). 4.

Knowledge of network systems management principles, models, methods (e.g., end-to-end systems performance monitoring), and tools.

Knowledge of systems security testing, evaluation methods, how to use network analysis tools to identify vulnerabilities, and vulnerability information dissemination sources (e.g., alerts, advisories, errata, and bulletins).

Skill in developing and applying security system access controls and assessing security controls based on cybersecurity principles and tenets.

(e.g., CIS CSC, NIST SP 800-53, Cybersecurity Framework, etc.). 5.

Skill in determining how a security system should work (including its resilience and dependability capabilities) and how changes in conditions, operations, or the environment will affect these outcomes/ Ability to apply cybersecurity and privacy principles to organizational requirements (relevant to confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, non-repudiation).

6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to manage a small staff and carry out all phases of personnel management responsibilities.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONTINUED: 1.

Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

A non-disclosure agreement must be signed. 2. Qualification IAW DoD 8140-policy series is a condition of employment.

Per DoDI 8140.02, the incumbent of this position must achieve foundational qualification requirements within 9 months of assignment and resident qualification requirements within 12 months of assignment to this cyberspace work role.

Waivers may be granted, not to extend beyond 6 months IAW DoDI 8140.02, C4.2.c.2.

Failure to receive proper qualification under the Cyberspace Workforce Qualification and Management Program may result in removal from the position.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

Analyze and report organizational and system security posture trends.

Promote awareness of security issues among management and ensure sound security principles are reflected in the organization's vision and goals. Perform cyber defense trend analysis and reporting.

Provides organizational leadership a comprehensive understanding of the organization's security posture, identifies areas of improvement, and makes informed decisions to enhance the overall security defenses.

Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
