Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading cybersecurity efforts to protect government IT systems and networks from threats, developing policies to keep information secure and accessible, and advising senior leaders on security matters.

It's based at a military facility in Maryland and supports critical cyber defense missions for the Department of Defense.

A good fit would be someone with strong experience in IT security, good communication skills, and the ability to solve complex technical problems in a team setting.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of experience leading IT cybersecurity projects to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems and networks
  • Demonstrated attention to detail in reviewing IT work or data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards
  • Experience in customer service, including assessing IT needs and tailoring solutions to meet them
  • Strong oral communication skills for briefing management and staff on IT systems, projects, and technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Problem-solving abilities to identify alternatives for complex IT issues using information from various sources
  • Extensive knowledge of information systems security principles to meet agency requirements and provide technical consultation to senior leadership
  • Ability to develop policies and procedures for information systems reliability, accessibility, and defense against unauthorized access

Full Job Description

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service.

It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.

It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA - Zero Trust Portfolio Management Office (ID32).

Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating the following competencies appropriate to, or above, the level of this position.

Basic Requirements: Attention to Detail- experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been asked by others to review their work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards Customer Service - experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products and services that are tailored to meet customer needs Oral Communication -briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience Problem Solving - identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions Qualifying Experience: In addition to meeting the basic requirement, applicants must possess qualifying experience.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position.

Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Leading IT cybersecurity projects to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems and networks.

Providing technical consultation to senior leadership on the status of IT security programs Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social).

  • Provide technical support and guidance to staff in matters relating to information management (IT) issues that involve a wide range of IT management that typically extend and apply to an entire organization or major components of an organization.
  • Develop policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility, and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data.
  • Implement, maintain, and conduct on-site and remote analyses of information systems standard security products, and associated systems in order to determine overall technical features.
  • Provide expert level advice and assistance in the areas of security architecture, systems auditing, security tools, and all areas related to INFOSEC
