Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves working as an IT security specialist in the Navy's engineering command, where you'll test systems for weaknesses, analyze risks, and recommend ways to protect networks and technology from cyber threats.
It's ideal for someone with hands-on experience in cybersecurity testing and a strong understanding of how to safeguard sensitive information in a military or technical environment.
The role requires attention to detail and good communication skills to work with teams and leaders on solving IT problems.
You will serve as a IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in the Command Information Office of NAVFAC OSF, Cyber Planning and Response Center, Adversarial Operations Team I have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1.
Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: REVIEWING MY OWN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY-RELATED WORK OR DATA AND HAVE BEEN RESPONSIBLE FOR REVIEWING THE WORK OF OTHERS TO ENSURE ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, AND CONSISTENCY WITH STANDARDS.

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: MONITOR CUSTOMER INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) PERFORMANCE TRENDS TO IDENTIFY STANDARD REMEDIES AT DIFFERENT SUPPORT TIER LEVELS (E.G., TIER-1, TIER-2, TIER-3).

Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: PRESENT INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) PROGRAM STRATEGIES TO SENIOR LEADERS FOR THE INCORPORATION OF EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES. 4.
Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: PERFORM A RISK ANALYSIS OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) SYSTEMS TO IDENTIFY PROBLEMS AND RECOMMEND SOLUTIONS.
In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: 1.) Performing hands-on cyber penetration testing of applications, systems, and/or networks; 2.) Assessing computer network weaknesses based on architecture, technologies deployed, and configurations; 3.) Analyzing operational impact resulting from identified system vulnerabilities; 4.) Recommending changes to system design, software, operating procedures, and other protection mechanisms to ensure system integrity; 5.)
