Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading cybersecurity efforts for the Navy, including creating policies, assessing risks, and ensuring systems meet security standards to protect information.

It's ideal for experienced IT professionals who enjoy advising on tech security and managing complex projects in a government setting.

A good fit would be someone with strong decision-making skills and knowledge of emerging technologies.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-12 level or equivalent in federal, private, or public sector
  • Experience making decisions or recommendations that change, interpret, or develop important policies and programs
  • Knowledge of system security certification and accreditation processes, including providing expert advice on computer networking design and implementation
  • Understanding of interrelationships among IT specialties, emerging technologies, business processes, project management, and resource estimation
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments, identify threats and vulnerabilities, and maintain RMF documentation
  • Skills in reviewing security regulations, developing policies, standards, and guidelines, and serving as a cybersecurity advisor

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Making decisions or recommendations significantly changing, interpreting, or developing important policies and programs. 2.

Applying system security certification and accreditation requirements and processes and providing expert advice within the command on design, configuration and implementation of advanced computer networking.

Applying knowledge of skills such as, interrelationships of multiple IT specialties, emerging technologies and their applications to business processes, project management principles, estimating resource requirements, and more.

  • You provide create and update cybersecurity policies and procedures to comply with Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements.
  • You will conduct risk assessments to identify potential security threats and vulnerabilities.
  • You will ensure development and maintenance of system certification and accreditation documentation according to DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • You will review and analyze changes in security regulations for impact to the program and its operational practices.
  • You will provide recommendations on and develop program security policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • You will serve as the Command Information Systems Security Manager and cybersecurity advisor to the Chief Information Security Officer.
