Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as an IT specialist to analyze needs, develop or update software systems, create plans for testing them, and ensure they work well for users in a government finance agency.

Key Requirements

  • IT competencies: Attention to Detail (ensuring accuracy and consistency in IT work), Customer Service (providing routine IT support and information), Oral Communication (explaining technical info to non-technical audiences), Problem Solving (addressing routine IT issues using standard sources)
  • 52 weeks of time-in-grade at GS-9 or higher in federal service (must be met within 30 days of announcement closing)
  • Participation in systems requirement reviews and analysis of information needs to develop or modify automated systems
  • Experience developing flowcharts, tables, narrative descriptions, test plans, and conducting systems integration testing

Specialized experience is defined as: Participating and Assisting in Developing, implementing, coding, testing, operating, and modifying software and automated systems; participating in systems requirement reviews.

Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement.

Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-09 or higher grade in Federal Service.

** The effective date of your SF-50 must reflect that you will meet the 52-week time in grade requirement within 30 days of the announcement closing.

** You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

Major Duties:

  • Analyzes information requirements in order to develop or modify automated information systems to meet user requirements and reviews proposals for systems changes.
  • Determines whether existing systems can be used or changed and recommends a course of action.
  • Develops flowcharts, tables, and narrative descriptions to implement required changes.
  • Develop test plans for systems or subsystems. Participates in systems integration and acceptability testing. Evaluates test results and takes appropriate corrective actions.
