Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position.

To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector.

Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement.

Creditable specialized experience includes: Executes software administration best practices to ensure system availability and security.

Performs system configuration, installation, integration, testing, debugging, documentation, and maintenance of software solutions.

Reviews software and environment for compliance with cybersecurity requirements, such as Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG).

Knowledge of and the capability to review application code in various languages, such as .NET, HTML, XML, and SQL.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

  • Serves as a Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) Application Administrator for Windows, Linux, Apache Tomcat, Apache Web Server, Microsoft IIS, Microsoft SQL, Oracle, ASP.Net, and Java IT solutions for Human Resources Management.
  • Installs, configures, and maintains COTS software applications, ensuring that applications are kept current, and all processes and configurations are documented in accordance with IT configuration management policies.
  • Participates in all phases of the systems development life cycle, including planning, requirements, design, build, document, test, deploy, and maintain
  • Ensures product configurations and administrative techniques meet security requirements and policies established by the Information Assurance Office and assesses implementation of information assurance vulnerability alerts and CERT taskings.
  • Conducts cybersecurity validation activities for COTS applications, such as review of automated system scans and manual checks of each security control as defined within the Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG).
  • Provides input into project plans maintained by the assigned IT Project Manager.
  • Acts as a member of a support team, addressing application issues that cannot be resolved by the first level helpdesk.
  • Monitors application audit logs to identify anomalies that may indicate a cybersecurity event or poor system performance.
  • Reviews policies, methods, and procedures and recommends changes or improvements in related programs.
  • Maintains communications with appropriate staff with team members in the IT Program Management Office, stakeholders in Human Resources and Equal Employment Opportunity offices...
