Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading IT projects for the Defense Information Systems Agency, focusing on understanding customer needs, developing technical solutions, and managing the full process from planning to acquisition for cyber-related initiatives.

It supports the US Cyber Command's mission in a secure government environment.

A good fit would be someone with strong project management skills, IT knowledge, and experience communicating technical ideas to non-experts, ideally with a background in defense or federal operations.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of experience equivalent to GG-12 level in implementing IT principles for program and project management lifecycle, operations customer support, or risk management mitigation
  • Strong attention to detail in reviewing IT work or data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency
  • Experience in customer service, including maintaining relationships, assessing IT needs, and tailoring products/services to meet them
  • Proficiency in oral communication, such as briefing management and staff on IT systems, projects, or operations, including explaining technical info to non-technical audiences
  • Problem-solving skills to identify alternatives for complex IT issues using information from various sources
  • Knowledge of operating systems, applications software, and IT policies/procedures to develop viable solutions
  • Ability to manage end-to-end acquisition lifecycle aligned to Defense Acquisition Pathways

Full Job Description

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service.

It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.

It is in the Professional Work Category at the Full Performance Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA ACQ/SERVICES PEO - BUS SYS PORTFOLIO MGMT OFFICE (ORG SD221).

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

Basic Requirements: Attention to Detail- Experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been asked by others to review their work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards Customer Service - Experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products and services that are tailored to meet customer needs Oral Communication - Briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience Problem Solving - Identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position.

Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience in Implementing IT principles that support program and project management life cycle OR providing operations customer support OR risk management mitigation.

  • Serves as a project manager for projects responding to requirements requests from internal and external DISA customers and stakeholders.
  • Analyzes functional and resource requirements and utilizes extensive knowledge of operating systems, applications software, and IT policies/procedures in order to develop viable IT solutions and alternatives.
  • Provides critical advice to specialists and contractors concerning corrections to proposals or adjustments needed regarding the hardware, software, infrastructure, or operating systems in order to meet customer requirements.
  • Translates the best technical solution into project plans to meet customer requirements.
  • Manages the end-to-end acquisition life-cycle aligned to the Defense Acquisition Pathways.
