Job Description

Summary

This job involves helping manage and grow the cybersecurity team at a Department of Defense finance agency by creating policies, offering expert advice, and planning for future needs.

Full Job Description

Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) mission is to lead the Department of Defense (DoD) in finance and accounting by ensuring the delivery of efficient, exceptional quality pay and financial information.

This position is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense via delegated authority by the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

In addition to the Basic Competency Requirements listed above, one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-12 in the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as: Initiating and managing the development, revision, coordination, and/or rescission of policies and procedures; providing guidance to management and/or customers on policy interpretation and determinations; providing analysis of policies and procedures impact to an organization.

We may use this announcement to make a temporary promotion. For some positions, the temporary promotion may be made permanent without further competition. Major Duties:

  • Provides technical support and guidance to staff in matters relating to cyber workforce implementation, sustainment and management.
  • Maintains extensive knowledge of the information systems and requirements necessary to support implementation and management of the cyber workforce.
  • Develops and maintains strategic plans to support existing and future cyber workforce program initiatives, needs and processes
  • Conduct cyber workforce assessments and provides recommendations to support current DoD-I 8140 transition, and evolution, in support of growing the DFAS cyber workforce program.
  • Assesses policy needs and develops policies to govern cyber workforce implementation, sustainment and management activities.
  • Provides policy guidance to IT management, staff, and customers.
