Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as an IT cybersecurity expert focused on networks and information security for the Department of Defense's finance and accounting service.

Specialized experience is defined as: Providing support services and assisting in resolving complex Information Technology (IT) technical problems in the realm of Networks including installing, maintaining, modifying and testing operating systems and associated network software/hardware products for Mid-Tier platform, Enterprise Local Area Network, and Wide Area Network development projects.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

Major Duties:

  • Develops network software exits and utilities to interface and supplement vendor-supplied software packages.
  • Develops organizational policy and procedures for implementation of guidance from higher level authority and provides advantages and disadvantages of different approaches.
  • Monitors management of quality, determines need for changes in the function, originates the development of program improvements, and briefs management officials on program status.
  • Serves as technical consultant for network interfaces to the Mid-Tier platforms, Enterprise Local Area Networks, and Wide are Networks.
  • Develops and manages highly complex network interfaces for software projects. Performs feasibility studies and business case analysis to provide technical solutions for the customer.
