Summary

This job involves helping manage cybersecurity for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service by supporting users with system access, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring secure financial information systems.

Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) mission is to lead the Department of Defense (DoD) in finance and accounting by ensuring the delivery of efficient, exceptional quality pay and financial information.

Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

In addition to the Basic Competency Requirements listed above, one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-11 in the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as providing expert level customer support services, to include user management, installation, configuration mapping, troubleshooting, and customer assistance in response to customer's automated system requirements; experience with Automation Information System (AIS) security issues.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

  • Provides assistance and guidance on matters pertaining to Risk Management Framework.
  • Prepares certification and accreditation packages via the Enterprise Mission Awareness Support Service (eMASS).
  • Develops guidelines, standards and analyzes DFAS financial and information technology needs with regards to Automated Information System (AIS) security issues involving system access.
  • Build Userids, provides new passwords, trouble-shoots user accounts, resets passwords and provides assistance to users experiencing system access problems.
