Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) mission is to lead the Department of Defense (DoD) in finance and accounting by ensuring the delivery of efficient, exceptional quality pay and financial information.

In addition to the Basic Competency Requirements listed above, one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-12 in the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as experience safeguarding our infrastructure and lead threat mitigation efforts in a dynamic environment.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

Major Duties:

  • Serves as a technical authority and senior project leader for network interface tasks, including installing, maintaining, modifying, and testing operating systems and associated network software products.
  • Coordinates complex troubleshooting efforts, working with cross-functional IT teams and vendors to resolve critical issues efficiently.
  • Ensures operational standards are met and maintained across the team.
  • Provides senior-level support, resolves problems, and recovers from operating malfunctions involving hardware and software failures.
  • Develops and maintains connectivity to other systems to ensure smooth operation and data flow.
  • Oversees reporting, alerting, and documentation of incidents using established tools and processes.
  • Leads After Action Reviews (AARs) to identify lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
  • Mentors and supports team members to enhance technical skills and performance.
  • Participates in developing and documenting standard operating procedures (SOPs) for monitoring and incident response.
