Summary

This job involves developing and maintaining custom software applications for state environmental departments using modern web technologies, while also supporting security audits and managing IT projects to ensure they meet deadlines and quality standards.

Key Requirements

Full Job Description

The chosen candidate in this position will support the Department of Workforce Services in Federal and State security audits, as well as oversee information security related projects and assignments. This is a highly technical, project-driven, and professional level position. The candidate will ensure that all DTS efforts on these projects are coordinated and that project deliverables are completed professionally, on time and within scope constraints and reach a successful conclusion.


The Division of Technology Services (DTS) is looking for a knowledgeable developer that has experience developing in JavaScript, React, and SQL.

This position will work with the DTS development team to maintain and build applications used by the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to support their internal partner divisions.

The successful applicant will work through the development lifecycle implementing technical requirements and analyzing business requirements.

This position will also contribute to a SAFe environment including Daily Scrum, Sprint Planning, Sprint Retrospectives, Backlog Refinement, Sprint/System Demos, PI Planning, and Inspect & Adapt events.

This position is currently a hybrid of both in-office and telework days (two days a week, in office required at the Multi Agency State Office Building, MASOB (195 N 1950 W SLC, UT).

Requirements

  • Develop custom application using Node.js and React
  • Build and implement CI/CD solutions using GitHub Actions
  • Create and maintain documentation for projects.
  • Identify problems or potential problem areas and recommend solutions.
  • Recommend user-level application enhancements to better meet customer needs.
  • Participate in daily planning/standup meetings to coordinate testing and development requirements.
  • Use development tracking software (JIRA) to collaborate and document testing assignments.
  • Document testing activities and results that are complete and accurate.
  • Prioritize assignments and workflow to meet established deadlines.
  • Prepare test scenarios and data to guide testing activities.
  • Address standards and business requirements with development teams.
  • Provide detailed information to developers on “failed” test cases.
  • Prepare software documentation for future reference and maintenance needs.
  • Run security scans and work with developers to fix vulnerabilities.
  • Work with the team doing Peer code reviews

Qualifications

  • At least one year of JavaScript or React application development experience

  • Demonstrated experience with unit testing (Jest, Node.js Test Runner, etc)

  • Demonstrated ability with application debugging and code fixes

  • Familiarity with agile methodologies

  • Understanding of application development best practices

  • Comfortable learning new toolsets and platforms

  • Knowledge of principles, theories, and practices of computer science

  • Deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism

  • Test software using appropriate methodology and techniques

  • One year of working with relational databases.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with JavaScript, NodeJS, and React

  • Fundamental understanding of Java, MVC framework, Spring, Spring Boot, .Net

  • Experience with version control systems(GIT, BitBucket)

  • Understanding of database design

  • Experience with API integrations (REST, GraphQL)

  • Experience with Serverless System design or architecture

  • Demonstrated experience with functional testing (Cypress, Selenium)

  • Experience with with PaaS (ServiceNow, Salesforce)
