RSIC is seeking an investment officer to support the continued growth of our portfolio.

In this role, you will work across Venture Capital, Growth Equity, and Buyouts, taking responsibility for manager due diligence, evaluating opportunities, writing recommendations, and helping manage existing relationships.

You will be involved in every stage of the investment process.

Within 12 to 18 months, you will be expected to lead or co-lead due diligence on new commitments and present your work to senior leadership.

The team is small, so your contributions will be visible and meaningful from the start.

Although your primary focus will be Private Equity, you will also have opportunities to work with our Hedge Fund, Private Debt, and Real Assets teams, providing exposure to the broader portfolio and how investment decisions fit within overall portfolio construction.

Over time, successful Investment Officers are expected to develop perspective across asset classes and contribute to discussions around capital allocation and portfolio strategy.

This role is a good match for someone who is organized, intellectually curious, and comfortable taking ownership in a collaborative environment. Successful candidates will demonstrate sound judgment and an interest in understanding how individual investments fit within a broader portfolio.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to learn or perform these essential duties and responsibilities:

Strategy: Help develop and execute the overarching Private Equity Strategy while contributing insights that support broader portfolio objectives.

Curate a forward-looking calendar of world-class General Partners (“GPs”). Report on and monitor strategic progress to ensure the portfolio stays ahead of the curve.

  • Sourcing: Cultivate deep relationships with GPs and industry peers to secure access to high-quality investment opportunities. Prioritize investment opportunities that align with our strategic initiatives and elevate high-conviction ideas to senior professionals.
  • Underwriting: Embrace and balance both a qualitative and quantitative approach to investment analysis and due diligence.

    Leverage internal and external resources to work smart and inform decision making based on data and sound judgement. Ensure all due diligence adheres to institutional standards and policies.

  • Execution: Orchestrate cross functional teams including legal, operational due diligence, investment operations, investment reporting, and legal. Navigate the complexities of negotiating and closing investments.
  • Monitoring: Represent RSIC on Limited Partner Advisory Committees (LPACs) and attend annual meetings and relevant industry conferences.

    This role requires approximately 20% travel, including air and ground transportation to conferences and client locations. Proactively identify and escalate key issues to senior leadership.

  • Co-investment: Drive co-investment flow by proactively managing and expanding GP relationships. Recommend investments to the internal co-investment committee that aligns with RSIC’s co-investment framework and overall portfolio objectives.
  • Portfolio Insights: Contribute analysis and insights that help inform broader portfolio discussions, including diversification, risk exposures, and capital allocation considerations across asset classes.
  • Requirements

    Education & Professional Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, finance, economics, mathematics or similar discipline.
    • 2 to 5 years of successful experience specifically within a Private Markets investment program.

    Technical & Analytical Expertise

    • Strong analytical, quantitative, and critical reasoning skills.
    • Fluent in Excel and PowerPoint and demonstrated experience with Bloomberg or similar investment risk tools.

    Professional & Soft Skills

    • Superior written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships across the investment community.
    • Detail oriented, able to juggle shifting priorities, and possess a “roll up your sleeves” attitude.
    • Maintain the highest ethical and professional standards in all dealings.

    Qualifications

    Education & Professional Experience

    • Master’s degree or higher in business, finance, economics, mathematics or similar discipline.
    • CFA and/or CAIA designation.
    • 3+ years in an institutional investment environment with a specific emphasis on underwriting Private Equity investments.
