Do you enjoy working in a collaborative team environment? If so, this may be the opportunity for you. We are looking for a Junior Investment Professional to join our Public Markets team at PSERS.
The Pennsylvania Public School Employees' Retirement System (PSERS,
www.psers.pa.gov), is an agency
in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that administers the pension plan for Pennsylvania's public school employees. The mission of PSERS is to maintain a financially sound System that supports over a half million members with a current pension fund of approximately $80+ billion. This position will play a contributing part in ensuring PSERS fulfills its mission and values.
PSERS is located in Harrisburg, PA, a mid-size city situated along the Susquehanna River. Teleworking is optional, with an occasional need to report to the Harrisburg office as operationally necessary. If requesting to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and be located in Pennsylvania. The Harrisburg area is affordable and near many attractions including Hershey, and it is only two hours from major cities and airports like Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington D.C.
Junior Investment Professionals may qualify for automatic promotion to Intermediate Investment Professional based upon established longevity and performance criteria.
Requirements
This position will provide basic analytical support to the Portfolio Strategy, Market Risk and Public Markets External Manager teams in many aspects of the investment management process and span a broad range of asset classes. In this position, you will assist in data analysis to include performance and attribution data, perform analysis of portfolio positioning and risks, participate in meetings with internal and external partners, assist in the monitoring of externally managed strategies, and interact with internal portfolio management teams.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours: 7.5 consecutive hours between 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a one-hour or half an hour lunch. Hours are negotiable.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. This position is hybrid telework eligible, dependent on operational and executive leadership requirements.
The general expectation for this role will be to report to the office in Harrisburg one day a week.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree; or
- Four years performing relevant public markets investment work; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of any of the following professional accreditations may be substituted for relevant work experience:
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA): 1 year per level passed
- Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA): 1 year
- Financial Risk Manager (FRM): 1 year per level passed
- Professional Risk Manager (PRM): 1 year
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credit.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- A bachelor's degree with a concentration in the areas of finance, mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, data science, or economics
- Three credits or more of college coursework in investment analysis
- Internship or comparable three months or more of work experience in performing investment analysis
- Experience using Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet program
- Completion of one or more levels of the following certifications: CFA, FRM, CAIA, or PRM
