Full Job Description

This officer will serve as Lieutenant over the Investigations Section and supervise all overt Law Enforcement Investigations.

Job Duties Include:
  • Assisting and guiding investigators, officers and employees with section job duties and assigned investigations.
  • Assisting employees with proper documentation of all performed investigations.
  • Supervising all assigned boating and hunting incident fatality investigations and non-fatality incident investigations.
  • Supervising and ensuring reports and paperwork are reviewed and corrected before cases are closed.
  • Managing the US Coast Guard BARD Reporting system.
  • Supervising the Regulatory Investigations Section and overseeing Marine Theft investigators case files assigned by the Marine Theft supervisor.
  • Reviewing monthly reports, approving time sheets, approving all leave requests and reviewing/approving travel support documents.
  • Conducting and scheduling training for the section and division.
  • Ensuring that all section employees attend in-service and any other required training.
  • Ensuring inspection of issued equipment for all subordinate staff as necessary, but at least bi-annually to ensure serviceability and availability.
  • Conducting all other duties or investigations as assigned.

Requirements

A high school diploma and five (5) years experience as a DNR Class I Law Enforcement Officer. Prefer one (1) year of DNR LE Officer experience in a supervisory level position.

Qualifications

Ten (10) years experience as a DNR Officer, four (4) of which as an investigator assigned to the Law Enforcement Investigations Section; or fifteen (15) years experience as a DNR Law Enforcement Officer. Thorough understanding of the Title 50 code of laws and federal laws that apply to Section Programs or Enforcement Issues. Knowledgeable of the legislative process. Ability to focus on both short and long term plans of the Region/Agency. Ability to maintain focus and possess strong management and leadership skills.
