Job Description

Summary

This job is for an IT support specialist who helps troubleshoot and fix issues in South Carolina's Medicaid systems, mainly by handling escalated requests from frontline staff and sharing solutions with the team.

It involves responding to tickets and calls, mentoring junior analysts, and working with vendors when needed.

A good fit would be someone with customer service experience in tech support and familiarity with Medicaid processes, who enjoys problem-solving in a team environment.

Key Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Relevant experience in customer service, desktop support, helpdesk, application support, or data processing environments
  • Experience working with South Carolina Medicaid programs, such as Cúram HCR or CGIS modules

  • Strong knowledge of SCDHHS eligibility systems, policies, and processes
  • Occasional overnight travel and possible overtime/weekend work

This position is located in Bureau of Medicaid Systems, Richland County.

Are you the One? We are looking for an IT Business Analyst I who, under general supervision, will serve as a Tier 2 Analyst for Medicaid Systems User Support. This position reports to the User Support Manager and is located in the Bureau of Medicaid Systems. In this role, you will support the SCDHHS Member Management System (MMS/Cúram), legacy Medicaid Eligibility Determination System (MEDS), and OnBase by responding to support tickets and phone calls directly from eligibility staff members, escalations from Tier 1 analysts and other support staff, and other tasks assigned by the User Support Manager. You will troubleshoot and resolve system issues and errors; document and share your findings with your peers; mentor and help Tier 1 analysts expand their knowledge; and, where necessary, escalate issues to and collaborate with system administrators, vendor staff, and/or Product Management team members for resolution via system changes or data fixes.

Respond to support requests and tasks escalated from Tier 1 and other support staff, or otherwise designated as Tier 2 requests by management.

Contribute to team documentation and communications to facilitate the sharing of knowledge. Engage with external parties to facilitate resolution of issues when required.

  • Demonstrate and maintain high proficiency with and knowledge of SCDHHS eligibility systems, policy, and processes. Ensure awareness and understanding of planned system, policy, and/or process changes and their impact to current operations.
  • Provide direct support to Medicaid systems end users by responding to support tickets, answering inbound support calls, and via other modalities as assigned.
  • Participates in relevant professional development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    Requirements

    A high school diploma and relevant experience in customer service, desktop support, helpdesk, application support, phone support, office automation systems, data communications system design, installation, operation, repair, sales or marketing, or processing of information in a data processing environment or related systems. Experience working with South Carolina Medicaid programs such as Cúram HCR or CGIS modules required.

    Additional Requirements:
    • Occasional overnight travel.
    • Overtime and/or weekend work with Deputy approval.
    • Sitting or standing for long periods of time.
    • Lifting requirements: 20 lbs.

    Qualifications

    Working knowledge of SC Medicaid eligibility processes and procedures.Proficiency with SC Medicaid eligibility systems.Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships.Ability to effectively and professionally communicate, verbally and in writing, technical and non-technical information to audiences with varying skill and knowledge levels.Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion.Ability to quickly adapt to changes in systems, processes, and/or environment.May be required to carry an agency-issued phone and provide "on call" support on a recurring schedule.
