This entry-level role trains you to check if insurance companies follow Pennsylvania's rules by reviewing their files, records, and practices for things like claims handling and marketing.
You'll learn to spot problems, gather evidence, write reports, and sometimes explain findings in hearings.
It's a great fit for detail-focused beginners with a background in business, finance, or related fields who want to protect consumers in the insurance world.

As an Insurance Market Conduct Examiner Trainee, you will learn how to participate in market conduct examinations in order to determine if companies are operating in compliance with Pennsylvania's statutes and regulations.
Examinations may take place on-site at insurance companies, in-house at the Insurance Department's office, or while teleworking from home.
Work involves learning how to review insurance companies' files and electronic records, such as policy forms, claims, consumer complaints, underwriting and rating practices, marketing and sales materials, producer licensing, operations and management, and policyholder services information to determine compliance during the course of a market conduct project.
You will be responsible for identifying violations of statutes, regulations, and adjudications; ensuring examiners involved in the project secure and retain copies of documentation and evidence to support findings of violations; and evaluating claims processing procedures, ensuring producers possess appropriate and valid licenses.
You will also have the opportunity to prepare detailed reports of findings, identify any deficiencies, and provide specific recommendations for corrective actions.
Excellent communication skills are vital, as you may also be required to provide testimony during administrative hearings to further support findings.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
Additional details may be provided during the interview.
