Job Description
Summary
This job involves teaching English classes to students who need extra help transitioning to college, creating and updating lesson plans, and supporting students through advising and retention efforts.
It also requires participating in college events, professional growth activities, and community outreach.
A good fit would be someone passionate about education, experienced in working with diverse adult learners, and comfortable using modern teaching tools.
Key Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree in English, Secondary English, English Education, Language Arts, or Literature, with demonstrated teaching competence
- Master's degree in English, Language Arts, English Education, or Literature (preferred)
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations across ages, abilities, nationalities, and cultures
- Teaching experience at a two-year college or in adult education
- Experience using instructional technology and innovative teaching strategies
- Commitment to professional, collegial, and ethical conduct
- Willingness to teach on-campus, online, or via distance learning, including flexible schedules (days, nights, weekends)
Full Job Description
TEACHING PERFORMANCE – The ability to present course materials through appropriate instructional strategies to facilitate the learning process.
INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPMENT – The development, revision, and maintenance of courses and curriculum through course objectives, outlines, and appropriate materials.
INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT – The effective use of required office hours, exhibition of effective classroom management and control, and timely and accurately submitted reports.
STUDENT ADVISEMENT – The participation of the faculty member, when applicable, in assisting students in personal and professional development.
COLLEGE AND/OR COMMUNITY SERVICES – Participation in College activities and the promotion of the College through public service.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT – The participation of the faculty member in activities designed to develop professional skills so as to maintain and improve proficiency in his/her present position.
