Requirements
This advanced and highly technical position is located within the Enterprise Data Center (EDC) of the Office of Administration, Office for Information Technology, responsible for providing leadership and supervision for the Enterprise VMware server infrastructure operations team.
As an Information Technology Generalist Administrator 2, you will be tasked with the day-to-day management of virtual server infrastructure across the EDC and multiple offsite locations, supporting a wide range of services for Commonwealth agencies.
Work involves the design, deployment, configuration, monitoring, maintenance, repair, and decommissioning of virtual server hardware, virtual hosts, automation services, and related infrastructure.
As an essential part of the ETSO Compute and Cloud Services Division, you will also oversee system administration for all virtual infrastructure servers within the EDC’s Managed Services offerings.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Meeting weekly with team members to review work plans, projects, tickets, and open change requests to ensure deliverables’ dates are being met
- Working closely with staff to develop mitigation plans when tasks are past due
- Managing all aspects of assigned projects which include work breakdown schedules, deliverables, and time management
- Providing 24x7 support for the virtual server infrastructure and developing team on-call schedules
- Serving the second-level escalation point for critical production incidents
- Evaluating server configurations and performance statistics to ensure maximum operating efficiency

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as an Information Technology Generalist Administrator 1, Senior Applications Developer, Database Administrator 1, Data Administrator 1, Information Security Specialist 2, or Network Administrator 1; or
- Six years of information technology experience that includes three years of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, database maintenance or database development, data analysis and data model development, administration of information technology security programs, or other information technology support/administration services; or
- Four years of information technology experience that includes three years of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, database maintenance or database development, data analysis and data model development, administration of information technology security programs, or other information technology support/administration services, and an associate’s degree in any information technology field; or
- Two years of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, database maintenance or database development, data analysis and data model development, administration of information technology security programs, or other information technology support/administration services, and a bachelor's degree in any information technology field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
- This particular position also requires possession of three or more years of full-time professional experience working with VMware vCenter.
- This particular position also requires possession of three or more years of full-time professional experience working with VMware Live Recovery.
- This particular position also requires possession of three or more years of full-time professional experience working with Device 42.
