Summary

This role serves as the Chief Technology Officer at Pennsylvania's Public Utility Commission, where you'll lead teams handling the agency's IT network, cloud systems, cybersecurity, help desk, and device management to support public utilities regulation.

It's ideal for an experienced IT leader who enjoys overseeing multiple projects, managing technical staff, and contributing to public service while balancing work and personal life.

The position offers part-time telework options and reports to the Chief Information Officer.

Key Requirements

  • One year of experience as an Information Technology Generalist Administrator 2, Database Administrator 2, Data Administrator 2, Applications Developer Administrator, Network Administrator 2, or Information Security Specialist 3 (or equivalent federal title)
  • Three years of technical IT experience, including two years in administrative IT work, plus a bachelor's degree
  • Proven ability to manage IT teams in network, cloud, cybersecurity, help desk, and desktop services
  • Experience overseeing high-priority IT projects, including cloud infrastructure, on-premises servers, and disaster recovery planning
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity design, implementation, incident response, and production support
  • Skills in procurement, telecommunications, and infrastructure monitoring
  • Availability for full-time work (7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday-Friday) with occasional evenings/weekends and eligibility for part-time telework in Pennsylvania

Requirements

This position is the Chief Technology Officer for the PA Public Utility Commission (PUC). This position is a managerial position overseeing the PUC network, cloud, desktop/laptop services, help desk and cyber security teams. This position reports to the PUC Chief Information Officer (CIO).

This position will oversee and be responsible for the delivery of multiple concurrent high priority IT projects in these areas.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Cloud Infrastructure and Management
  • Maintenance and Oversight of On-Premises servers and the PUC Network
  • Infrastructure and Cybersecurity Monitoring and Support
  • Disaster Recovery/COOP Planning and Testing
  • Production Incident Response
  • Cybersecurity Design, Implementation and Incident Response
  • Help Desk services
  • Management of Laptops and Desktops
  • Procurement
  • Telecommunications
  • Management of Network and Cybersecurity Teams


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • This position occasionally works evenings and on weekends.
  • Telework: Part-time work from home (telework) may be a potential feature of this position.

    The successful candidate is required to report to the headquarters worksite daily, unless the employee meets eligibility requirements and telework has been approved.

    Management may discontinue any telework arrangement at any time, for any reason. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.To be eligible to participate in telework, the employee's alternate (telework) worksite must meet the following requirements:Within a reasonable travel distance of headquarters; and

  • Within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

  • Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    • One year as an Information Technology Generalist Administrator 2, Database Administrator 2, Data Administrator 2, Applications Developer Administrator, Network Administrator 2, or Information Security Specialist 3 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
    • Three years of technical information technology experience including two years of administrative information technology work, and a bachelor's degree; or
    • An equivalent combination of experience and training including two years of administrative information technology work.

    Other Requirements:

    • You must possess a ITIL V4 (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) Certification.
    • You must possess a Microsoft Azure Fundamentals Certification.
    • You must possess one or more years of full-time professional experience managing multiple large scale IT infrastructure projects.
