As an Information Technology Cybersecurity Specialist (Forensics Analyst/ Cyber Defense), you will identify IT security program implications of new or upgraded technologies, provide technical assistance on digital matters, identify digital evidence, and ensure chain of custody for all digital media.

This announcement is issued under the Direct Hire Authority to recruit for positions for which the Department of Homeland Security, U.S.
Citizenship and Immigration Services, has a critical hiring need.
Basic Requirements: All applicants must meet the following basic requirements: (Must be supported in Transcripts from an accredited institution, Resume and/or Applicable Certificate) For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

GS-14: You qualify at the GS-14 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position.
You must have experience performing the following duties: Creating a forensically sound duplicate of the evidence (i.e., forensic image) that ensures the original evidence is not unintentionally modified to use for data recovery and analysis processes.
This includes, but is not limited to, hard drives, floppy diskettes, CD,PDA, mobile phones, GPS, and all tape formats.
Using specialized equipment and techniques to catalog, document, extract, collect, package, and preserve digital evidence.
Analyzing digital evidence and investigating computer security incidents to derive useful information in support of system/network vulnerability mitigation.
