This National Guard position is for a INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST, Position Description Number T5003000 and is part of the PA 171st Air Refueling Wing, National Guard.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: All Series GS-0080 personnel must be certified at the next higher level before being eligible for that level.
Each applicant must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career level, as cited on page two.
Applicants must have the experiences, education, or training that demonstrates the ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures.
Applicants must demonstrate the ability or have endorsements that indicate the ability to learn and perform the cited position's duties.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Application must indicate at least 36 months experience in evaluating requirements for additional resources and balancing organizational needs with mission requirements and resource interests.
Capable of identifying the program's needs and priority changes and experienced in executing those changes as required with full control and monitoring skills.
Experience included establishing review systems and procedures that ensured governmental information protection requirements were validated, enforced, monitored, and maintained.
Skilled in economically operating the Information Protection program to identify areas, activities, and tasks that need revisions and improvements.
Experienced in administrating guides and developed procedures that ensured the Wing's Information Protection Staff employees and Security specialists executed converged, multi-disciplined, and risk-based approaches to address assessments and self-disciplined reviews for Air Force supported and supporting missions and operations.
QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying.
Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed.
The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.

Major Duties:
As a Information Security Specialist, GS-0080-12, you will serve as the Wing Information Protection Program Manager executing/enforcing all operational, functional, and mission assurance aspects of the program.
Make information protection risk assessments and risk management/mitigation strategies/recommendations based on intelligence-derived threat issues that may require deviations from or synthesis of policies.
Deliver Security Awareness and Education Programs to satisfy security education and training requirements for all assigned organizations. Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
