This job involves leading a security office in an Air National Guard intelligence unit, managing programs to protect highly sensitive classified information, and ensuring compliance with security policies through research, analysis, and oversight.

This INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST is located in an intelligence unit and is part of the CA 163 ATKW.
General Experience: Possess experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately; Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material; Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats; Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures.
Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels; Education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career.
INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST, GS-0080-11: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-09 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government.
This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated.
Specialized experience may have been demonstrated by performing duties such as: Experience acting as resident expert on all SCI security matters; Experience researching, interpreting, analyzing and applying Presidential Executive Orders, Director Central Intelligence Directives (DCIDs), Defense Intelligence Agency Manuals, DoD Manuals, Air Force Manuals, Air Force Instructions, and local Operating Instructions; Experience providing oversight of unit and SSO security self-inspections and presenting detailed and comprehensive reports with corrective action taken to the unit intelligence commander/SIO.

Major Duties:
THIS IS A T5 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION The primary purpose of the INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST, GS-0080-11, is to serve as Chief, Special Security Office.
Administers the Special Security Office (SSO) and all SCI-associated security programs and measures. Provides detailed research and analysis on physical, computer, and personnel security.
This position requires a comprehensive working knowledge of intelligence support operations, procedures, and practices.
Initiates and implements policies and procedures required to manage sensitive compartmented information (SCI) programs and to protect SCI resources.
Establishes policies and procedures for accomplishment of SCI protection and security. Develops goals and objectives that integrate organizational missions and security requirements.
Recommends or makes changes in unit security policy and directives, based on personal analysis of very general policy directives and objectives.
Plans and supervises work accomplished by assigned subordinates. Accepts, amends, or rejects work presented by subordinates.
Tracks and administers SCI clearances for all in-processing personnel to ensure mission readiness. Terminates or transfers SCI clearances for out-processing personnel.
Provides SSO services for other units located within the same geographic area. Follows-up to ensure complete and quality resolution of discrepancies.
Manages and directs the activities and personnel of the unit Special Security Office. Plans and supervises work accomplished by assigned subordinates.
Sets and adjusts short-term priorities and prepares schedules based on organization priorities and missions. Accepts, amends, or rejects work presented by subordinates.
The position resides within the infrastructure and support functions of the state National Guard; the incumbent is not subject to mobilization, nor is the work described part of the military mission; and the incumbent does not perform a key advisory or essential administrative role that is inherently military.
In addition, the position must meet one of the following: It does not have a comparable military function; the position is required in full-time (civilian) role when the organization, or similar military position, is mobilized to perform continuing post-mobilization functions; or the position requires a skill or competency that necessitates technical expertise or professional qualifications that cannot be readily found in the military structure of the state military force.
