Job Description

Summary

This job involves supporting the maintenance and repair planning for naval aircraft, engines, and components at a fleet readiness center in San Diego, California.

You'll help create work processes, review technical documents, and analyze production needs to ensure efficient repairs.

It's a good fit for someone with hands-on experience in technical support or project coordination in manufacturing or aviation maintenance, who enjoys detail-oriented work in a team environment.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-07 (for GS-09) or GS-09 (for GS-11) in federal or equivalent service

Full Job Description

You will serve as an INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the TECHNICAL WORK DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT DIVISION of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST in Naval Air Station North Island, San Diego, California.

GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assisting in the preparation of industrial logistics planning or workload planning documentation; 2) Supporting analysis of production requirements and workload demands; 3) Applying basic technical support, engineering technician support, or project coordination methods to assigned tasks supporting aircraft, components, or engines; and 4) Assisting with the development or interpretation of master rework plans, routers, or bills of materials for aircraft, components, or engines.

GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Preparing industrial logistics planning and integration documents for the repair of new and prospective work load programs; 2) Understanding of production requirements and ensuring workload demands are met; 3) Applying technical support and project management principles, concepts, and methodology to a variety of assignments supporting aircraft, components, or engines; and 4) Interpreting developing master rework plans (routers/bills of materials) for aircraft, components, or engines.

  • You will develop detailed work methods and processes, listing the essential steps for the repair and or overhaul of assigned aircraft, engines, or components.
  • You will review Technical Directives to include Technical Publications and Drawings, Local Engineering Specifications, Local Process Specifications, Standard Depot Level Maintenance Specifications, Phased Depot Maintenance Specifications, etc.
  • You will determine the shop routing, extent of rework by shop, and trade skills and ground support equipment requirements.
  • You will perform investigations, reviews, or studies to determine the reasons for excessive variances (man-hours/dollars losses or gains) and providing support to Integrated Product Teams in determining corrective action.
  • You will coordinate the services of all divisions and shops involved with the planning and establishment of organic repair capability on Designated Repair Point (DRP) and Depot Source of Repair (DSOR) components.
