Job Description
Summary
This job is for an entry-level HVAC technician at a correctional facility in South Carolina, where you'll maintain and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems to keep the buildings comfortable and safe.
You'll create maintenance plans, handle emergency calls around the clock, and manage supplies while staying updated on new technology.

Key Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5 years of trade experience in HVAC installation, maintenance, or related mechanical systems
- EPA Class 2 certification for refrigerant cooling
- Ability to work overtime and 24-hour on-call for emergency repairs
- Successful completion of 4 weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and supply requisitioning
Full Job Description
- Develops preventive maintenance and repair program throughout facility for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration.
- Establishes on-call procedures and responds to calls.
- Determines requirements for preventive maintenance and repair supplies and equipment and prepares justification for and requisitions supplies/equipment.
- Remains abreast of new techniques/procedures/equipment in functional area and recommends the procurement of and assists in supervising the installation of new equipment.
- Work involves overtime and 24-hour on-call responsibilities for emergency repairs.
- Prescribed by the SCDHEC.

Requirements
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma and experience in the installation and maintenance of HVAC systems or in the operation and maintenance of HVAC mechanical and building control systems. Relevant experience may be substituted for the required diploma on a year-for-year basis.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and 5 years trade experience directly related to the area of employment.
Must be EPA (Class 2) certified for refrigerant cooling.
