This job involves leading a team to plan, maintain, and upgrade HVAC and refrigeration systems across multiple correctional facilities in South Carolina, including handling repairs, renovations, and ensuring everything runs smoothly.
It also covers managing tools, emergency fixes, and complying with safety rules in a secure environment.
A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in HVAC work, strong leadership skills, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations in a government setting.
Directs planning, development, organization, coordination, implementation & control of all pm programs, alteration/maintenance repair, renovation & construction projects for all HVAC/refrigeration systems throughout SCDC which includes 22 existing institutions, support buildings & future facilities to include replacement needs of existing HVAC/refrigeration equipment, location & upgrading of inefficient HVAC/refrigeration systems as well as new and renovated construction projects throughout SCDC.
Maintain skilled workforce. approving authority for all HVAC/refrigeration functions & procedures for facilities management.
Ensures compliance of tool control and maintains accurate inventory of tools assigned to his/her area as well as tools assigned to employees under his/her supervision. Implement & supervise emergency maintenance.
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and professional experience in building repairs and maintenance or in the specific area of assignment, and experience in a lead/supervisory role.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and five (5) years trades experience directly related to the area of employment and five (5) years of supervisory experience.
A degree in the related field of study may be substituted for the five (5) years of experience.
Must be EPA (class 2) certified for refrigerant recovery or must obtain within six (6) months of hire.
