Summary

This job involves analyzing, programming, and maintaining building automation systems to keep state facilities comfortable and energy-efficient, while leading projects and guiding other team members.

About DTMB:
The Department of Technology, Management and Budget supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems.

About this position:
Employees in this position must have a high level of expertise to perform entire building automation system analysis, programming, commissioning, and modification to ensure tenant comfort and energy efficiency in all facilities managed by the Department of Technology, Management & Budget. Serves as the lead on commissioning projects and mentors other staff. Creates and maintains partnerships with Facilities Supervisors and labor/trades staff for optimal customer service and efficiency while performing duties in a facility amassing 1,500,000 square feet and nearly 2,000 building tenants.

Requirements

Education
Possession of an associate degree in electrical, electromechanical, or electronics engineering, computer science, engineering, or electronics technology.

Experience
Four years of experience in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and electronic equipment equivalent to an Equipment Technician, including two years equivalent to an Equipment Technician E10 or one year equivalent to an Equipment Technician 11.

Qualifications

Four years of experience in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and electronic equipment may be substituted for the education requirement. This is in addition to the experience requirements for the specific levels.

A certificate from a two year, post-secondary, technical program in electrical, electromechanical, or electronics technology may be substituted for the education requirement.

Possession of a bachelor's degree or higher with 16 semester (24 term) credits in job specific or related course work qualifies for the Equipment Technician 10 level.

Additional Information

Some positions within this class series are assigned job duties that may require possession of the Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by the Secretary of State as required by Public Act 346 of 1988 to operate a designated state vehicle.
