Job Description

Summary

This job involves supporting Marine families and next-of-kin by handling sensitive records related to casualties, DNA identification, and unaccounted-for service members, including coordinating communications, travel arrangements, and benefits assistance.

It requires working in a military human resources context to help with repatriation processes and family outreach programs.

A good fit would be someone with experience in administrative support, empathy for dealing with grieving families, and a background in records management or military affairs.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST (MIL) in the MANPOWER & RESERVE AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT of HQ US MARINE CORPS.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Coordinating and assisting Marine families and next-of-kin by managing casualty and DNA records, preparing correspondence, and supporting casualty reporting and repatriation processes.

  • You will communicate and coordinate with the contract genealogist for the purpose of identifying and locating next of kin of unaccounted for Marines.
  • You will solicit participation of family members in the DNA Outreach Program.
  • You will enter records into the DCIPS concerning unaccounted for Marines.
  • You will make transportation arrangements associated with movement of family members to annual government briefings via the Coincidental Travel Assistance (COIN ASSIST) program.
  • You will assist next-of-kin with survivor benefits.
