Job Description

Summary

This job involves handling everyday human resources tasks for a state department office, such as recruiting new staff, managing hiring paperwork, processing benefits and leave requests, and supporting recruitment efforts through events and social media.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university, or substitution with related experience in human resources, payroll, bookkeeping, or accounting (1 year per 30 semester hours)

  • Knowledge of employee benefits submission, workers' compensation claims, and documentation for transactions like discipline or FMLA
  • Ability to review salary requests and ensure compliance with internal policies and SPB approvals

Full Job Description


Under supervision of the Director of Staffing Services, this employee performs full performance work performing the Human Resources functions for the DCR Central Office Special Services, Investigators, and K-9 expenditures. This includes, but is not limited to recruiting, ensuring vacant positions are posted and requesting registers, coding registers, submitting hiring packets to DAS to include offer letters, requesting employee background checks, coordinating submission of workers compensation claims, managing employee benefits submission to DAS, providing proper documentation to back up all employee transactions (discipline letters, leave of absence letters, and FMLA). This position will review salary requests in accordance with internal policy directives that guide compliance with SPB Proposal approvals, for the Deputy Commissioner. The position will advise the DCR recruitment section in regard to agency and facility vacancies, and all applicable position information to assist the recruitment team with hiring events, advertising, and social media.

Qualifications
