The Department of Transportation is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Highway Equipment Manager 2. This pivotal role involves overseeing the comprehensive highway equipment program for the Huntingdon County Maintenance Organization. You will be tasked with managing the maintenance, repair, and dispatch of a varied fleet of heavy construction and automotive machinery. Furthermore, you will supervise the equipment repair facilities and the dedicated team responsible for their operation. Requirements

In this pivotal position, you will oversee the planning, direction, and management of the highway equipment maintenance program within a County Maintenance Organization. Your duties will encompass analyzing and developing the County’s fleet model and budget, as well as managing the maintenance, repair, and dispatch of heavy construction and automotive equipment. You will supervise equipment repair facilities and personnel, ensuring the upkeep of buildings, grounds, and storage areas. Direct oversight will be provided to mechanic supervisors and shop staff, while you will also prepare and implement a preventative maintenance program for both equipment and facilities. Additionally, you will evaluate the work of mechanics for quality and efficiency, inspect equipment for maintenance needs, and develop the County Equipment budget. Maintaining garage facilities in a clean and organized manner is essential, as is administering the equipment operator training and certification program. You will also hold certifications as a 3rd Party CDL examiner and equipment certifier, and be responsible for the CDL Drug & Alcohol testing program.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Highway Equipment Manager 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of experience in the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel engines and other components of heavy highway maintenance and construction vehicles and equipment including two years of such experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Conditions of Employment:

  • This position position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License which is not under suspension with Air Brake restriction removed.
  • This position requires possession of a valid Class 4 or Class 7 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Inspection Mechanic Certification by end of probationary period.
  • This position requires one year of experience or training in the repair or maintenance of diesel engines.
