In this position, the individual is tasked with overseeing the maintenance, repair, and dispatch of a fleet comprising heavy construction and automotive equipment.
This includes managing the operations of equipment repair facilities and supervising the personnel involved in these processes.
Additionally, the role encompasses the maintenance of the building, grounds, stockpiles, and facilities designated for equipment storage and maintenance.
The individual will directly supervise the mechanic supervisor along with the office, shop, and storeroom staff.
A key responsibility is to develop, schedule, and implement a preventative maintenance program for the assigned equipment and buildings within a county maintenance organization.
Regular inspections of the equipment are conducted to assess the necessity for repairs, replacements, or maintenance.
The role also involves negotiating with dealers or garage owners regarding repair costs, parts pricing, discounts, and ensuring warranty inspections are completed.
Furthermore, the individual administers a training, testing, and certification program for equipment operators, ensuring that each operator is assigned specific equipment based on their qualifications and certifications.
The maintenance of an accurate equipment inventory is crucial, as is monitoring usage and assigning equipment to stockpiles for operational needs.
The individual is also responsible for maintaining a tool inventory and approving the purchase of all necessary shop and foreman tools.
