Requirements

As a Highway Equipment Manager 1, you will be responsible for planning, directing, and managing the highway equipment program for the Montgomery County Maintenance Organization.

Your work will focus on preparing, scheduling, and administering a range of preventative maintenance for assigned equipment and buildings.

Specific duties include the inspection, maintenance, repair, and dispatch of a fleet of heavy construction and automotive equipment; the supervision of equipment repair facilities and related personnel; and the upkeep of the building, grounds, stockpiles, and facilities used for equipment, storage, and maintenance.

Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be supervising the mechanic supervisor as well as office, shop, and storeroom personnel.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel engines and other components of heavy highway maintenance and construction vehicles and equipment including one year of such experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Conditions of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Class B or Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake restriction removed.
  • This position requires Tank (N) or Hazmat (H) or Tank/Hazmat (X) endorsements.
  • This position requires valid PA Class 7 or Class 4 Inspection Mechanic Certification.
  • You must obtain a Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within the first six months of employment.
