This job involves leading a team to manage the repair, maintenance, and scheduling of heavy vehicles and equipment used in highway construction and upkeep, while also overseeing garages, shops, and related facilities in Montgomery County.
It's ideal for someone with hands-on experience fixing diesel and gasoline engines who enjoys directing staff and ensuring everything runs smoothly for road maintenance operations.
You'll work full-time on-site with no remote options, focusing on safety and efficiency in a government setting.

As a Highway Equipment Manager 1, you will be responsible for planning, directing, and managing the highway equipment program for the Montgomery County Maintenance Organization.
Your work will focus on preparing, scheduling, and administering a range of preventative maintenance for assigned equipment and buildings.
Specific duties include the inspection, maintenance, repair, and dispatch of a fleet of heavy construction and automotive equipment; the supervision of equipment repair facilities and related personnel; and the upkeep of the building, grounds, stockpiles, and facilities used for equipment, storage, and maintenance.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be supervising the mechanic supervisor as well as office, shop, and storeroom personnel.
