Requirements

In this role, you will help protect forest resources and maintain State Forest facilities throughout the Gallitzin Forest District.

Your work will include assisting with the upkeep of roads, trails, bridges, and buildings by cleaning culverts, cutting trees and brush, and performing construction and maintenance tasks using the appropriate tools and equipment.

You will also support the maintenance of state forest boundary lines and signage by installing posts and markers, repainting marked trees, and clearing vegetation.

Additionally, you will assist in forest fire suppression efforts by removing vegetation, patrolling fire lines, and operating portable pumps.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 through November 2026, at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Condition of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
