Summary

Requirements

As a Corrections Maintenance Foreman, you will oversee inmate work crews as they perform routine assignments such as lawn care, snow removal, janitorial duties, and general maintenance.

You will plan and assign daily inmate schedules, inspect completed work assignments, and provide instruction in the operation and preventative maintenance of machinery and vehicles.

You will also assist other maintenance staff in the performance of semi-skilled and skilled journey work in trades such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, refrigeration, masonry, steam-fitting, and welding.

This role requires strong leadership and communication skills to ensure adherence to performance standards.

In addition, you will inventory materials and tools used to complete work assignments, submit purchase requests, and exercise technical independence to determine the best methods to complete tasks.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Tuesday - Saturday or 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Sunday - Thursday. Your work hours WILL BE DETERMINED.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of experience performing building maintenance, construction, or general trades work; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown. PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
