Requirements

As a Forest Maintenance Worker, you will conduct a wide-range of duties to maintain and improve the trails, roads, buildings, and all related facilities within the Loyalsock Forest District.

General maintenance projects will involve mowing and weeding, snow removal, minor repairs, trash and recycling collection, and clearing debris and brush from boundary lines, culverts, fences, trails, and roadways.

You will also ensure accurate and legible signage is present throughout the forest. If signage needs to be replaced or installed, you will operate the necessary equipment to prepare and place new signs. Within this role, you will participate in forest fire suppression efforts such as using water pumps, hand tools, and mechanized equipment to suppress fires, as well as repairing and maintaining fire equipment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits.

The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay.

The employee will automatically be returned to employment in March 2027.

Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday - Thursday, and 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM on either Monday or Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Accrued day off will be determined during the hiring process.

Occasional overtime and travel.

Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Condition of Employment:

• This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.

Other Requirements:
