Requirements
As a Food Service Worker 1, you will perform routine work in the preparation of meals and sanitation of food preparation and serving areas at the Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home. Key duties of the position include cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, pans, work surfaces, and other kitchen items. You will be responsible for preparing trays, measuring portions, serving food, and transporting trays and carts. Work will require the use of equipment such as mixers, dicers, slicers, knives, and grinders. Your attention to detail and adherence to food safety protocols will be vital in providing nutritious and enjoyable meals for our residents.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM; rotating days off, including holidays; with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONSAdditional Requirement:- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):- Food service experience in an assisted living facility, nursing home, hospital, restaurant, or other food service operation
- Work experience interacting with patients, residents, or customers while serving food/cleaning in patient/resident rooms or a dining room setting
- Work experience with food safety and sanitation in a dietary department
- Experience in the following tasks:
- Cleaning, washing, peeling, slicing, and dicing food items
- Using kitchen equipment such as VCM, food processor, tabletop chopper, or garbage disposal
- Chopping, dicing, and slicing meats, poultry, fish, and cheeses
- Heating simple foods such as eggs, sandwiches, and hamburgers
- Preparing sandwiches, assembling salads, and serving portions, including desserts
- Plating and serving meals from hot food cart
- Cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, pans, work surfaces, and other kitchen items
- Transporting and assisting in loading and unloading food delivery trucks from kitchen and dining rooms
- Transporting food and supplies to and from freezers, refrigerators, and storeroom
- Selective menu, taking food orders, waitressing, and dining room service
- Food cart and dining room serving area set up
- Reading meal and tray tickets or tags
- Tray assembly and working on a tray line
- Operating commercial kitchen equipment
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
