Base salary range: $41,966 - $54,557
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-6. Bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement or 1 year graduate study.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves helping military and civilian employees with travel arrangements, processing reimbursements, and ensuring everything follows government rules for trips both in the US and abroad.
You'll review documents, guide people on claims, handle passport applications, and check financial records to keep things accurate and audit-ready.
It's a good fit for someone detail-oriented with experience in travel processing or administrative support in a structured environment like the military or government.
You will serve as a FINANCIAL TECHNICIAN in the COMPTROLLER DEPARTMENT (600), DEPUTY COMPTROLLER (601), FINANCIAL SERVICES DIVISION (610), TRAVEL BRANCH (615) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
GS-07 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience working with travel systems/databases (such as Defense Travel System, Joint Travel Regulation (JTR), and Joint Federal Travel Regulation (JFTR).
Experience providing guidance and assistance to civilian and military personnel on regulations and procedures pertaining to travel and transportation matters both domestic and foreign.
Experience with resolution of conflicts in interpretation, cost analysis and in travel matters necessary to provide efficient, expedient, and economical travel arrangements.
GS-06 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience preparing, reviewing and auditing all supporting documentation pertaining to travel vouchers prior to any payment.
Experience interpreting and applying travel requirements, procedures, and functions.
Experience providing assistance to civilian and military personnel in filling out all claims for reimbursement by reviewing each claim for appropriateness in accordance with existing regulations.
