Summary

This role acts as an executive assistant to top leaders in a defense finance office, handling administrative tasks while offering expert advice on financial reviews, data analysis, and budgeting to keep operations running smoothly.

It involves leading or joining complex audits and solving tough financial issues that affect the whole organization.

Key Requirements

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-11) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as: performing extensive data analysis and evaluation of financial systems, processes, and procedures to ensure the continuity of a financial organization's business operations; or compiling financial data from various sources and ensuring their accuracy as it pertains to the operational mission.

Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement.

Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher grade in Federal Service.

** The effective date of your SF-50 must reflect that you will meet the 52-week time in grade requirement within 30 days of the announcement closing.

** You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

Major Duties:

  • Serves as an Executive Assistant (EA) to the Director and Deputy Directors of Disbursing Operations.
  • Provides administrative support and oversight as well as advanced financial management advice and assistance in the conduct of financial reviews, analysis, and examination of financial data, records, and reports.
  • Independently conducts directorate wide reviews of broad scope and participates as a team member on highly complex reviews involving other organizations or sites.
  • Provides technical advice and assistance to management and program officials in areas of broad scope and mission impact where potentially controversial recommendations are made to resolve highly complex problems.
  • Provides technical advice related to staffing and budget requirements for the directorate.
