Job Description

Summary

This role involves managing and troubleshooting pay for wounded military personnel, analyzing financial data, and advising leaders on complex pay issues within the Defense Finance and Accounting Service.

It requires working independently or in teams to review performance, research problems, and create reports or presentations.

A good fit would be someone with experience in financial processing, especially in government or military contexts, who is detail-oriented and comfortable with data analysis.

Key Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-5 for entry at GS-7, focusing on processing pay actions and resolving issues using automated systems

GS 7 One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-5) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as: Experience processing variety of pay actions using automated systems and making necessary corrections to resolve problem pay actions.

GS 9 One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-7) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as: Experience with military pay regulations, policies, and laws to resolve a wide range of issues, evaluating reports and data from financial systems to identify issues and discrepancies to resolve financial issues.

GS 11 One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-9) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as: Experience analyzing financial and military pay operations, to identify weaknesses and ensure compliance with internal controls, analyzing the impact of applicable laws and regulations on an organization's financial policies.

Recommending changes to maintain compliance. Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement.

To be considered for the GS-7, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-5 or higher in the Federal service.

To be considered for the GS-9, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-7 or higher in the Federal service.

To be considered for the GS-11, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-9 or higher in the Federal service.

** The effective date of your SF-50 must reflect that you will meet the 52-week time in grade requirement within 30 days of the announcement closing.

** This announcement will be used to fill positions with an entry grade of GS-7, GS-9, OR GS-11 with a target grade of GS-11.

The minimum salary for grade GS-7 is $50,930, the maximum salary is $66,210. The minimum salary for grade GS-9 is $62,297, the maximum salary is $80,991.

The minimum salary for grade GS-11 is $75,374, the maximum salary is $97,991.

You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

Major Duties:

  • Conducts a variety of complex assignments in the review and analysis of Wounded Warrior pay management.
  • Advises Wounded Warrior Pay Office leadership on the proper course of action to take in complicated situations involving wounded warrior pay issues
  • Works independently and in a team environment to gather, compile, review, and analyze the Wounded Warrior pay teams’ performance.
  • Researches and compiles data, prepares charts, narratives, and graphics for formal and informal presentations.
