Job Description

Summary

This job involves helping with budgeting, accounting, and financial planning in the Navy, including reviewing requests, analyzing data, and preparing reports under supervision.

It's a developmental role for someone starting out in government finance, focusing on learning and supporting more experienced analysts.

A good fit would be someone with basic experience in financial analysis or budgeting who wants to build skills in a structured federal environment.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-07 level (for GS-09) or GS-05 level (for GS-07) in federal or equivalent service
  • Skills in analyzing budgets, funding sources, and relating needs to dollar figures

GS-09 - $62,640 - $81,436 GS-07 - $51,210 - $66,574 GS-09: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying skills in functions, goals, objectives, work processes, and funding sources sufficient to related needs and accomplishments to anticipated or actual dollar figures.

Employee works independently on routine, continuing assignments.

Experience exercising functions, goals, objectives, work processes, and funding sources sufficient to related needs and accomplishments to anticipated or actual dollar figures.

Experience implementing of the policies, precedents, regulations, and guidelines of a functional area such as financial oversight, budget formulation, and/or budget execution in order to analyze and evaluate changes in program plans and funding and/or budgetary relationships.

GS-07: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience and ability to review and analyze budget requests submitted by organizational activities to ensure their consistency, accuracy, and adherence to instructions.

Experience utilizing skills in analyzing and interpreting sources of information and applying it to specific areas.

Experience providing practical knowledge of Navy ERP practices, procedures and regulations.

Experience skill in performing budget formulation work involving review and preparation of budget estimates and financial plans.

  • You will perform developmental assignments designed to increase the employee's knowledge and understand of the functions of budget, accounting, and financial management.
  • You will receive on-the-job and/or classroom training in application of concepts, principles, and procedures in a variety of financial administration and management duties.
  • You will assist in work that may include development, determination, and interpretation of budgetary policies and practices.
  • You will research guides to locate accounting, budgetary, and financial information and prepare summaries for use by higher-graded analysts.
  • You will perform specialized work involving managerial or administrative work in connection with accounting systems; analytical, forecasting, and interpretive functions associated under the guidance of higher-graded analysts or supervisor.
