About the Position: This position supports the mission of the J-8, Financial Operations Directorate and is located in Falls Church, Virginia. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Leave accrual negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to the Federal service.

To qualify at the GS-12 grade level: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing financial management procedures; assisting in the review financial data; and aiding with helpdesk support for automated systems.

To qualify at the GS-13 grade level: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with budget reviews, aiding in the analysis of financial data; assisting with course of action recommendations; and providing helpdesk support for automated systems.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent.

Major Duties:

  • Work closely with managers to identify significant budget or procedural problem areas, gather pertinent data, evaluate findings and recommend corrections and or appropriate courses of action.
  • Formulate, justify, present and execute all budgets within the assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Perform financial management support functions by providing assistance in Budget Execution, Financial/Accounting Reconciliation and Reporting Services within the accounting system of record.
  • Provide advice and guidance covering a wide variety of financial policies and requirements.
  • Responsible for helpdesk support of financial automated systems, i.e., General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS) and Automated Time, Attendance, and Production System (ATAAPS).
  • Independently investigate a variety of technical finance and accounting problems/situations with analytical responsibility for recommending alternative actions, corrections, or solutions.
  • Participate in meetings, task groups, and committees to obtain and disseminate resource management advice and guidance.
