Job Description

Summary

This job involves analyzing financial data related to military pay, preparing reports, and recommending improvements to ensure everything follows rules and supports budgeting.

It also includes resolving complex accounting issues and reviewing financial systems across the agency.

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service is required.

Specialized experience is defined as performing duties such as analyzing financial data and preparing reports in relation to military pay; and/or providing recommendations to improve military pay financial operations, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations while supporting budget planning and execution; in addition to experience utilizing systems such as the Defense Joint Military Pay System (DJMS), Case Management System (CMS), and/or Defense MilPay Office system (DMO) in processing military pay data.

Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement.

Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher grade in Federal Service.

** The effective date of your SF-50 must reflect that you will meet the 52-week time in grade requirement within 30 days of the announcement closing.

** You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

Major Duties:

  • Provides financial management services, project management and operational remediation work for the mission area.
  • Applies comprehensive knowledge of reporting requirements and work processes to resolve complex, significant finance and accounting problems.
  • Supports the SME/Senior analyst on agency level reviews of financial systems with Agency-wide application that require a high degree of analytical and evaluative skills, as well as originality and advisory abilities.
  • Analyzes policy changes to regulations directing respective functional area key processes and the impacts to auditable processes, which are the result of policy, procedural, and/or system weaknesses.
