Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field, or any Bachelor's degree plus two years of related experience in Human Services
  • Preferred: Bachelor's or Master's in Social Work (BSW or MSW) with Virginia Social Worker license
  • Ability to screen referrals, determine eligibility, and process documentation under Children's Services Act (CSA)
  • Skills in coordinating and monitoring Family Assessment and Planning Teams (FAPT) activities
  • Experience serving as a liaison with partner agencies, providing guidance and technical assistance
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local policies for compliance and quality assurance
  • Valid Driver's License (may be required) and completion of state-mandated training within 24 months

The NDHS is seeking to fill a Family Services Worker I position. The Family services Worker I ensures services are consistent with state and local policies of preserving families and providing services in the least restrictive environments.

Departmental Hiring Salary Range: $54,190-$62,185

Requirements

Essential functions include but are not limited to:

Screen and process referrals for services and emergency requests, ensuring all documentation is provided, and determining eligibility based on the requirements of the Children’s Services Act (CSA) and Community Policy and Management Team.Schedule, coordinate and monitor activities of Family Assessment and Planning Teams to ensure children and families receive services.Serve as a liaison with core partner agencies in the CSA systems of care, providing guidance, support and technical assistance.

Work with management to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local policies and guidelines.

Facilitate family engagement in the FAPT process and protecting client confidentiality.Facilitate collection and distribution of forms and documentation for FAPT, including reports, and surveys.

Assist with preparation of meeting minutes.

Maintain case files.Ensure that individual and family service plans are strength based, family driven and measurable.Assist with orientation for all new FAPT members.Work with management to implement practices that support quality assurance.

Qualifications Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or minimum of a Bachelor's degree in any field and minimum of two years of appropriate and related experience in a Human Services area (Section 22VAC40-670-20 of the Administrative Code of Virginia).

Possession of a BSW or MSW degree and a Commonwealth of Virginia Social Worker license are desirable.No experience required.Preferred Education:Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work is preferred.

Additional Information Valid Driver's License may be required depending on assignment.

Successful completion of State mandated training within the first 24 months of employment.Signing Bonus: This position is eligible for a one-time $5,000 signing bonus.
