Base salary range: $56,527 - $73,486

Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves working as a mechanical engineering technician at a naval shipyard, focusing on measuring and reducing noise and vibration in submarines and ships to make them quieter and more efficient.
You'll use specialized tools to collect data, analyze problems, and recommend fixes, while preparing reports and specifications for repairs.
It's a great fit for someone with hands-on experience in mechanical systems and a detail-oriented mindset who enjoys technical problem-solving in a military or engineering environment.
You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL) in the Ship Silencing Branch (Code 264), Engineering and Planning Department (Code 200) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying mechanical engineering concepts, principles, practices related to the operation and installation of system equipment.
Experience evaluating and applying the latest developments and techniques in solving unique problems by recording quantitative noise and vibration data.
Experience identifying, evaluating and recommending appropriate solutions to resolve complex interrelated problems and issues.
Experience applying analytical and diagnostic techniques, qualitative and quantitative techniques, techniques for developing new or modified work methods, approaches, or procedures.
Experience formulating and presenting findings, briefings, status reports and correspondence. Experience providing comprehensive management advisory and technical services.
