Base salary range: $62,107 - $80,737
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-10. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 years graduate study.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves supporting the maintenance and testing of combat systems on naval ships like aircraft carriers and submarines at a naval shipyard in Virginia.
You'll apply engineering knowledge to plan work, prepare documents, order materials, lead projects, and troubleshoot issues on board ships.
It's a great fit for someone with hands-on technical experience in mechanical and electrical systems, especially in a military or shipbuilding environment, who enjoys problem-solving and managing timelines.
You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Weapons Systems Branch (Code 292), Combat Systems Division (Code 290), Non Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience providing the practical application of mechanical, electronics, and electrical engineering principles to planning, production, and functional checkout of Combat Systems equipment and components.
Experience and technical knowledge of nuclear aircraft carrier, surface combatant and/or submarine Combat Systems Equipment and components.
Experience implementing basic knowledge of Project Management Fundamentals. Experience identifying and resolving changing work situations.
Experience monitoring Cost and Schedule Performance and taking actions to correct negative trends.
