Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as a technician on the MK-41 Vertical Launch System for naval ships, handling testing, repairs, upgrades, and providing expert support to maintenance teams in Japan.

You'll monitor systems for safety, solve technical issues across various engineering areas, and act as the on-site specialist for this critical weapon system.

Key Requirements

  • Ability to resolve technical problems involving electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and electronics disciplines
  • Skills in providing technical support, system certification, and fleet assistance for naval weapons systems

Full Job Description

You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN as a MK-41 VLS Technician in the Weapons Branch (Code 294) of NAVAL SHIP REPAIR FACILITY JAPAN REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER.

GS-13: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience providing MK-41 VLS industrial and system level testing, repair, modernization, and independently conducting research to enhance program effectiveness and possess a current Test Director (TD) certification.

GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

  • You will serve as a Program manager waterfront representative monitoring system and program trends on homeported ships and makes recommendations to enhance overall safety of personnel and equipment for the MK-41 Vertical Launch System.
  • You will support ships maintenance teams and SRF-JRMC engineering department by providing on-site resolution and/or correction of production, performance, or quality deficiencies on the MK-41 Vertical Launch System for ships.
  • You will resolve technical problems, usually consisting of multiple engineering disciplines Including but not limited to electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and electronics.
  • You will be responsible for providing technical and engineering services in the performance, operation, maintenance, Depot Level repair and modernization, system testing/certification and Fleet Technical Support on the MK-41 Vertical Launch System.
  • You will serve as the forward deployed resident expert on Vertical Launching System (VLS), supporting systems, equipment and components.
