This job involves operating heavy trucks and construction equipment to maintain facilities and support Army research at a military base in Maryland.
You'll handle tasks like driving large vehicles, excavating land, and clearing debris, often in tough outdoor conditions.
It's a good fit for someone with hands-on experience in equipment operation who can work independently with minimal oversight and doesn't mind physical labor in all weather.
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for certain personnel of the DoD workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: The US Army Garrison serves the Soldier and collaborates with Army science and research by providing excellent laboratory facilities and support services.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required.
However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): I have the ability to perform common Engineering Equipment Operator duties.
I can operate large trucks such as dump trucks, snowplows, water trucks and chemical trucks, adjusting attachments while heavy equipment is in motion and grading surfaces to fine specifications.
I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

Physical Efforts: Strenuous physical effort is used by the operator in constantly reaching, bending, turning, and moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to handle large pieces of equipment and for frequent adjustment of equipment due to changing surface conditions Light to moderate physical effort is used in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls.
Heavy physical effort is required when lifting and moving objects weighing over 50 pounds. Working Conditions: Engineering equipment operation is performed outside in all kinds of weather conditions.
Is subject to extremely hot temperatures and flying dust in the summer and the coldest weather during the winter.
There is the danger of suffering cuts, bruises, and injuries while operating equipment on extremely bumpy and rough ground.
Exposed to danger of tipping or overturning the vehicle when working on steep banks and side slopes. Incumbent is subject to unfavorable noise and fumes from equipment operated.
Drives in all types of traffic and weather and is exposed to the possibility of serious accident. The operator is subject to cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving.
Continuing exposure to discarded or unexploded ammunition while performing laboring duties on firing range. Major Duties:
