Full Job Description
Proficiently operates level rod to determine elevations, prism poles to provide alignment and collect topography and uses bush axe and saws to clears brush for line of sight and takes measurements as needed.
Assists with and occassionally operates specialized survey equipment including manual total station, data collector, and level to perform basic survey operations in establishing elevations of bench marks, ground controls profiles and cross sections.
Maintains and records field notes which includes profile, cross sections and topography. Reduces level notes to check for elevation precision.
Assists with the operation, calibration and maintenance of basic equipment and job safety including placement and maintenance of signs.
Under the direction of a SC registered land surveyor, performs courthouse and field research to locate property lines and corners and assists in plotting property Information. Locates and obtains utility data in the field.
Maintains personal dally work log. Utilizes ESS In SCEIS to enter work time with charge codes and leave requests, Uses ESS to maintain personal information.
Assists In matters relating to highway design including horizontal and vertical alignment.
Assists with the setting of ground panels and the surveying to establish the coordinates and elevations of panel points for photogrammetric topographic mapping. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
A high school diploma and one (1) year of experience that is related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
The physical demands for the essential functions involves frequent bending, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to 50 lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May require occasional exposure to noise.
