Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team as the main engineering expert for the Navy's undersea combat control systems, overseeing design, development, integration, and ongoing support to ensure they work effectively for the fleet.

It requires managing budgets, schedules, technical teams, and delivering expert advice on hardware, software, and logistics.

A good fit would be an experienced engineer or scientist with a strong background in naval or defense systems who enjoys leading projects and solving complex technical challenges.

Full Job Description

You will serve as The In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) Lead in the Combat Control System (CCS) program of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI.

This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-5 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-14 and GS-15 and the ND-4 encompasses GS-12 and GS-13.

For the ND-05: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-04 (GS-12/13 equivalency) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer or scientist applying advanced theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods of engineering, or computer science to define, organize, or direct engineering processes and project efforts related to Undersea Warfare Combat Systems design, development, and integration.

For the ND-04: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-03 (GS-09/11 equivalency) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer or scientist applying a wide range of theories, concepts, principles, standards, and methods of engineering or computer science to provide engineering support for project efforts related to Undersea Warfare Combat systems design, development, and integration.

  • You will provide technical supervision to a team of government and contractor employees.
  • You will work with the branch head on staffing and budget requirements.
  • You will serve as a subject matter expert in the areas of combat control hardware, software, logistics and in-service engineering.
  • You will lead programmatic efforts including cost and schedule as well as technical aspects.
  • You will deliver high level technical briefs across the program and department.
  • You will manage program office supply support depot effectively following property management guidelines.
  • You will verify engineering technical data including fleet metrics, test and installation procedures, and reliability sparing models.
  • You will perform engineering and computer related tasks involving the research, design, operation, maintenance and development of Combat Control Systems and the equipment/components related to those systems.
